Art, photo, and illustration inspiration.

When it comes to creativity, some of my favorite places to look for inspiration are art, photography, and illustration websites or blogs.
There’s something about traditional creatives – those who use traditional and film cameras, physical paintbrushes, paper and glue, etc. – that is empowering and remarkably motivating.
Some of my favorite photographers are those who can take a normal situation and turn it into a one‒of‒a‒kind moment captured in time. When a painter uses basic shapes to create an entire portrait, how you could you not be inspired? And if an illustrator can take a basic word and make a mosaic out of it that moves you, that’s something to be motivated about.
Here are a few of my absolute favorite art websites for creative inspiration. Take a look:
Burstoid. Described as as “fun design magazine with a love for eye-catching, thought‒provoking work,” Burstoid is the type of blog you absolutely have to subscribe to or bookmark. Check it regularly and you’re guaranteed to find some type of artwork that inspires you.
Booooooom. If you don’t know about Booooooom (seven ohs, if you don’t want to count them) yet, you should stop reading this article right now and visit the site already. Jeff Hamada manages the website and does a downright incredible job of linking to and detailing great artists from around the globe. View some inspiring work, participate in the community, and join in on the fun activities Jeff creates often.
You Might Like This. Anna Worthington and Tom Hyde run this great little blog about “stuff that you might like.” And boy oh boy do I like what they post and write about. The blog isn’t as full of unique artist profiles (compared to Booooooom and Burstoid) but you can always find something cool by browsing their archives. Guaranteed to be a favorite.
Design is Kinky. If you’re Australian you’ll really get a kick from Design is Kinky. If you’re from another part of the world you’ll still find yourself checking the site daily. The great people over at DiK are known for their creative antics and incredible talents. If you love art or design, you will definitely need to add DiK to your RSS reader, you won’t regret it.
Illuminession. Carolina Yocom is a friend of mine and one hell of a creative artist/photographer. I’ve been meaning to highlight Carolina’s blog, so now is a good time to introduce you to her. She often writes or features some powerful creative insights, and her photo prints are perfect for hanging in your home or office. Take a look at her blog, subscribe, and get ready to learn a lot about art, design, photography, and how to be a better creative thinker.
