Motivation Monday: Sip the management Kool-Aid

Kool-Aid man!

Author and creative thinker Gregg Fraley wrote a very interesting article titled Creativity Has Always Been The “New” Management Kool Aid.

In the article, Gregg looks at a newly released report from IBM that states that “the creative management style – which is marked by taking calculated risks and communicating in new ways – will lead to more success as companies struggle to find their way in an increasingly complex world.”

To which Gregg and countless other creatives around the world replied: “no duh.”

Creativity can help companies who are struggling? How is this new information? What about the U.S. economy? Or the starving children in Africa? Or what about Uncle Jesse and how he can’t get a job? What can creativity do for those situations?

Creativity is the ability to think of new ideas, to solve problems in innovative ways, so how is it any surprise that creativity can help companies who are struggling? It should go without saying that even a little bit of creativity can do a lot for the world.

…it’s only a matter of people realizing it.
