Motivation Monday: Fostering creativity at HP.

Searching for creative motivation or inspiration? Each Monday you can find all of the creative insight you need right here at Creative Something, with “Motivation Monday”.
Hewlett–Packard knows creativity. The computer giant knows all about innovation and hard work too. That’s why, when you hear something about creativity and innovation from HP, you should pay attention.
Take, for example, this quote about HP’s philosophy for fostering an environment for creativity and innovation, from the 1999 HP Annual Report:
“Believe you can change the world. Work quickly, keep the tools unlocked, work whenever. Know when to work alone and when to work together. Share – tools, ideas. Trust your colleagues. No politics. No bureaucracy. The customer defines a job well done. Radical ideas are not bad ideas. Invent different ways of working. Make a contribution every day. If it doesn’t contribute, it doesn’t leave the garage. Believe that together we can do anything. Invent.”
The most prominent point in this quote for me is believing that you can change the world.
So many of us often doubt of abilities especially when it comes to our creativity. We don’t realize that the first step to being creative (or anything, for that matter) is believing it.
You are creative. And your creativity can change the world. That’s why Creative Something exists. I want to show you exactly how you can express your creativity each and every day. I want to show you that you can change the world.
The first step is to read through the quote from HP again, copy it and print it out, write it down, put it someplace where you can read it everyday. Then, start to convince yourself that it’s true. Believe it.
Or do you already believe it?
